Frequently asked questions

How does MateSync work?
Each person owns their own roster — set your pattern (days on, days off, shift type) once and it's yours to manage. Invite mates with a shareable link. The timeline shows when you're all home at the same time, with overlap windows highlighted automatically. Push notifications let you know when a new shared home day appears.
Is MateSync free?
Yes — the free tier is free forever and includes one roster, one connected mate, the timeline view with overlap detection, push notifications, all standard FIFO presets, and all shift types. No card required. MateSync Pro unlocks unlimited mates, custom roster patterns, calendar view, and multiple rosters for $4.99/month or $34.99/year (with a 7-day free trial). Cancel anytime in your App Store settings.
What rosters can I create?
Standard FIFO presets (7/7, 14/7, 14/14, 8/6, 4/3, 2/1) are built in. For non-standard patterns — nurses doing 4 on, 4 off, 4 nights, 4 off, for example — use the Custom Roster builder (Pro feature) to set any sequence of on/off blocks with day, arvo, or night shift types.
How do I invite mates?
From the Timeline view, tap the + button to open the invite sheet. Send via SMS, email, or generate a shareable link. Your mate taps the link, signs up, and gets connected to your timeline — they'll show up automatically once they accept.
Can I edit my roster after I set it up?
Yes. From the Timeline view, tap your own row at the top to open the roster editor. Update your pattern, anchor date, or shift type — changes are saved instantly and your connected mates' timelines update in real time.
Why am I not getting push notifications?
Check iPhone Settings → MateSync → Notifications and make sure they're allowed. In the app, go to Settings to toggle which notifications you want (new overlaps detected, mate's roster changed). If they're still not arriving, try signing out and back in to refresh your device token.
How does MateSync handle my data?
Your roster, mates, and profile data are stored securely on Supabase servers in Sydney, Australia. We don't sell your data, don't run ads, and don't share information with third parties beyond what's needed to provide the service (Apple for push notifications, RevenueCat for subscription management). See our Privacy Policy for the full breakdown.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Go to Settings in MateSync, tap Manage Subscription, and follow the prompts. Or open the App Store app on your iPhone → tap your profile → Subscriptions → MateSync Pro → Cancel. Your Pro features remain active until the end of your current billing period.
I'm on the waitlist — when do I get my 6 months free Pro?
Waitlist signups (first 100) receive 6 months of MateSync Pro automatically when they sign up using the email address they used on the waitlist. No code or action needed — just sign up with the same email and Pro features will be unlocked from day one. The 6 months starts on your sign-up date.
Can I use MateSync if I'm not on FIFO?
Absolutely. MateSync works for any shift worker — nurses, paramedics, firies, police, retail, hospitality. The Custom Roster builder handles any pattern you throw at it. Partners and family members of shift workers also find it useful for keeping track of when their person is home.
Is MateSync available outside Australia?
Yes — MateSync is available in most countries via the App Store. The app's tone is Aussie but the features work anywhere. Currently iOS only; Android may come later based on demand.
